My Extreme Fitness Adventure

Updated: Sep 15

I am about to embark on a journey that will shape, grow, stretch and test me in every area of my life, particularly in health, fitness and mindset. I've spent some time reconnecting with myself where I speak to myself, ask questions and answers in the form of clarity appears. What came up was I am not stretching myself enough. I am busy with six businesses, new projects, my team and my home life, but I need a really great challenge and I am ready for it! The more I thought about it, the more I desired a crazy kind of challenge.

As I desired the crazy challenge, I examined myself and concluded that I lacked discipline in certain areas. To overcome a few of them, I rejoined the 5 am club 3 weeks ago. I kid you not, ever since the first day of waking up at 5 am, so many things began to change in my life for the better. Firstly, waking up at 5 am is like finding my cherished teddy bear and loving it again. I used to wake up at that time when I worked in corporate, and loved the stillness of the morning, the solitude and the crisp, fresh air. It was the best time for me to talk to God and pray about the day ahead and get clear about the direction of my life and future goals.

I am now venturing out to take walks, exercise or, my new favourite thing to do is to go to the beach even if it is still a bit dark. I never swam in the ocean in the dark. It was quite surreal. Even though the sand is black, I saw the ocean floor clearly with the moonlight! I chose an accountability partner to support me in changing certain habits to become healthier. I found it easier to make better choices because I would be held accountable.

As I tweaked certain things in my life, I kept getting that feeling becoming stronger every day that I need the big challenge to be radical and change my life in 2025 and beyond. I desire change personally and professionally to become the person I need to be to do things I know I'm called to, and be a high functioning person.

To satisfy the need for a big stretch in order to grow, I've enrolled in one year of health and fitness training and coaching with Martell Fitness. One year of fitness accountability, food accountability and mindset examination and improvement. Just imagine all of the places I will go and I am responsible for making sure my food is exactly what it should be in the program, I must exercise and be accountable for my actions. My goal is to lift the heaviest weights so that I will and transform my body, become a high performing leader and improve my mental acuity. The last time I did something like this, in 2019, I hit a plateau with my weight as it did not budge to go below 142 lbs. Over the course of this year, I will be working on shattering that. This is the video that inspired me to change: https://youtu.be/5Aqz7k8JO7k?si=PZSCp73VeQxgm96i

I have never had a six pack, bulging muscles or veins. When I was in shape, I had more of a toned look. This time, I am going for gold to be as strong as I can be and maintain it. I have selected my cheerleaders who are all fit and will hold me accountable as well as my fitness team. In the words of Dan Martell of Martell Fitness, I am ready to exhaust my body to train my mind. I will share my journey here, so stay tuned! Tomorrow is my official Day One on this one year journey and beyond. Who knows where this might lead? Maybe to jump out of a plane next, rock climb, surf, ice climb...life is full of surprises and I am open to possibilities.
